Start & End Point
KathmanduWe get it, Annapurna is now very crowded but what if we tell you, that there still exists a little traveled trek in this gorgeous region? Don’t believe us, then let Himalayan Hope Treks take you on its astonishing Mardi Himal trek, a trek that will let you marvel at its pristine trails and magical air.
Lying east of the base camp of Annapurna and south of the Annapurna range, the Mardi Himal trek was started only in 2012. Thus, it still is an eco-friendly trail that will guide you to some of the remote Gurung settlements of Annapurna that delight all your senses.
It is therefore a spectacular adventure for those who like to appreciate culture, nature, and diverse ecological settings. It is a completely fresh, splendid adventure for beginners, and for those who don’t want to be part of the crowd.
Besides, the unique Gurung Buddhist practices, culture, and remarkable nature, the Mardi Himal trek 10 days journey is also bold and daring in its own terms that will take you through the magical mountainous terrain and dark peaceful jungles of the Annapurna Conservation Area.
However, the main theatrical event that will be stealing your hearts will be the Mardi Himal Base Camp itself at 4500 m elevation. Singu Chuli (6501 m), Annapurna I (8091 m), Tent Peak (5695 m), Baraha Shikhar (Mount Fang) (7647 m), Machhapuchhre (6993 m), Hiunchuli (6441 m), Mardi Himal (5587 m), and Annapurna South (7219 m) will create this amazing panorama here that will shut down all your stress and exertions and immerse you in some different snowy universe.
The Mardi Himal trek itinerary trail will begin to emerge from Pokhara leading you through the colorful forests of Annapurna to Forest Camp, Low Camp, and High Camp.
The snowy wilderness of the base camp of Madi Peak hails you on the seventh day after which you will return traversing Siding to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu.
We would like to invite all the Himalayan lovers, the sweet souls who like to tear themselves from civilization for a while, and all the seasoned and new hikers to our Mardi Himal trek at any month and time of the year.
The most fruitful time for the Mardi Himal trek will occur in the autumn days of October and November when the entire region atmosphere is clean and cool, trails are very dry and weather is constant and the Himalayas can be seen most beautifully without any clouds.
March to late April bring the spring flowers in the forest of the Annapurna while December through late February enchants with little snow and bearable cold.
May and June are often accompanied by hot air and July, August, and mid-September wet the area with high monsoon rain.
Mardi Himal trek 10 days exciting journey is graded profile II of moderate nature where the maximum elevation is only 4500 m at Mardi Himal Base Camp.
The mountain trail is comparatively easy most of the time running along the stone paved path along the ridges and cool forests. You will involve in 5 to 6 hours of trekking each day along the route furnished with snug tea houses.
Thus, it is the simpler option to trek in the Annapurna suitable for trekking novices as well as older and younger adults.
The AMS more commonly called altitude sickness is rare in our Mardi Himal trek but it can happen. Our Mardi Himal trek itinerary will allow you to slowly adjust to the medium altitude of the Gurung villages.
Still, new or experienced, old or young, anyone can be affected at any time by AMS which shows mostly as headaches, fatigue, nausea, dizziness, and tiredness.
Taking Diamox, ibuprofen, or paracetamol tablets for minor headaches can reduce greatly the discomfort. Likewise, plenty of fluid intake, more sleep and rest, and slow ascending will also reduce the AMS signs which will disappear within some hours.
The Mardi Himal trek is so simple and unique that it doesn’t require its travelers to be athletically built and fit. If you love an active and healthy life, then no burden of advanced physical training will be needed.
However, for those who are less active, we definitely urge you to consider running or walking at least 15 km every day for a month. Squats, treadmill runs, stair ascents and descents, stretches, planks, weight lifts, swimming, and cycling will also prepare you for the increasing jungle tracks of the Mardi Himal trek.
Kathmandu and Pokhara will welcome you in their cozy three-star hotels where you will be given a spacious double room with an ensuite shower, toilet, hot water, and WiFi. Breakfasts will be presented in your room or at the spot of your choice.
On the Annapurna trail, the homely atmosphere of the Gurung tea houses mostly takes you in. Their small double bedroom may not be spacious but certainly warm and snug.
Three times meals of breakfasts, dinners, and lunches will always be on your table on the trail. Be sure to power up yourself with the energizing Dal Vat.
Himalayan Hope Treks will tailor your every ground transportation for the airport and hotel transfers in a private automobile. Between Kathmandu and Pokhara travel, a tourist bus will comfort you for around 7 hours on the road while a jeep will offer you transport to Pokhara from Siding.
At a little extra amount, a private automobile or flights can also be managed to and from Pokhara.
A Mardi Himal Base Camp Helicopter tour from Pokhara of around an hour or two will be excellent if you don’t like to trek the trails. Likewise, the Mardi Himal trek can be extended up to Poon Hill or up to Annapurna Base Camp as well.
Travel insurance with the provision of helicopter transport, evacuation and rescue up to 4500 m is a must-have for our Mardi Himal trek. Extensive medical insurance will be an added benefit along with accidental coverage as well. Remember, travel insurance made accurate for the hiking trips must be presented with your documents to get the prerequisite Mardi Himal trek permits.
The Annapurna Conservation Area Project ACAP) and Trekking Information Management System (TIMS) Card permits should be on your hands if you like to walk the trails of the Mardi Himal trek itinerary. Respective amounts of 2000 NPR (TIMS) and 3000 NPR (ACAP) have already been integrated into total travel costs.
Usually, you will get plenty of free time in the afternoon and evening to get used to the Mardi Air. Plus the elevation is also not that high above sea level. However, if you want one, we can tailor it for you.
Yes, there are several, and sufficiently comfortable as well.
Certainly, Himalayan Hope Treks will do everything we can to not only accommodate but also facilitate their trip to Mardi Himal.
